What I and some othere need is a cr-rom that will bring up a screwed up XP HDD..I have a old HDD that I can connect to do just that then run a antivirus on the whole smear...A cdrom would be better as the virus can\'t write to the boot to disable it..

While it looks like a great program, I could not figure out how to make a boot disk on a CD for Windows XP. The program indicated that it was \"done\", the CD remained empty. :-(

First of all, sorry about my bad English. Few day ago, I bought second-hand Maxtor 120Gb disc, and I have a problem to install Windows Xp on it. Disk Checker in Vista Using large fonts for the desktop, the interface is a bit scrambled, but was still usable. (buttons and dialogs in not quite the right place, or partially obscured.Despite that, it worked to reassure that a potentially defective CD from an academic text was in fact fine: problem was the laptop that couldn't read it properly.Needs some work to fix its use in other than standard font size ... I assume that's the issue, but didn't try it out as I was able to make it work ok.

very useful tool Unexperienced laptop user. Managed to finally repair my ill-behaving WD 750 GB disk. Wasn't straightforward, probably (at least partly) due to my missing experience.
